Summer weather can change quickly. Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds can develop with little warning, sometimes causing power outages and property damage.
A few simple precautions can help families stay prepared. Keep flashlights and fresh batteries readily available, ensure mobile phones remain charged and secure outdoor furniture or loose items before a storm arrives.
Residents should also monitor weather forecasts and alerts during periods of unsettled weather. If severe weather is expected, move indoors and avoid open areas, tall trees and metal structures.
Preparation doesn’t take much time, but it can make a significant difference when summer storms arrive unexpectedly.
