Councillor’s corner - December 2025

Councillor’s corner

Dear Resident,

As the year draws to a close, I want to wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I would also like to update you on important City initiatives.

On December 7th we opened the new Finch LRT, Line 6. I was thrilled to see how many of our neighbours came to check out the train and ride for free on the first day. The train speeds and reliability have gotten off to a rocky start, and at City Council on December 16th we instructed staff to make key changes to improve the new line. We will continue to work with the TTC to make trips faster, more reliable and more comfortable.

A key improvement is coming to Apted Park, where a new soccer mini-pitch will be built.

The mini-pitch is being delivered through the Soccer for All Legacy Program and 2026 FIFA World Cup, funded by privately raised dollars and designed to reduce barriers to participation in soccer.

The soccer mini-pitch will be the first step in a bigger vision for Apted Park that includes upgrades coming next year including a new playground and other park improvements. Consultation on the future of Apted Park is coming in the new year. Community input is essential to getting this right. I encourage you to share feedback.

I look forward to continuing to work with you in the year ahead to build a safer, more connected and more livable city.

Sincerely,

City Councillor
