Emery Village BIA Executive Director’s message - February 2026

Emery Village BIA Executive Director’s message

Dear Emery Village Community,

February is here, and while we’re definitely in the thick of winter, the energy in our BIA is feeling pretty incredible right now.

We are coming off the high of a fantastic Annual General Meeting, and I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who showed up. I also want to extend a sincere thank you to our Board of Management. It was great to see such a full house, including our MP Hon. Judy Sgro, MPP Tom Rakocevic, BIA Chair and local Councillor Anthony Perruzza. Having them all in one room really shows how much our BIA matters. A special thanks goes to John Kiru, who did a masterful job moderating the evening and keeping everything on track—we couldn’t have asked for a better lead.

Now that the snow is piling up, I do want to ask everyone to stay safe out there. It can be slippery, so please take your time walking the district and let’s keep those storefronts salted and clear for our neighbours.

With March just around the corner, we have much to celebrate. International Women’s Day is March 8th, and this year’s global theme is “Give to Gain.” Our neighborhood is home to a wealth of incredible women-led businesses and professionals. I encourage you to show them some love this month; when you shop local, you are investing in the very people who make our community thrive.

Finally, for our families with children, Spring Break (March 16–20) is the perfect time for a local adventure. You don’t need to go far to keep the kids entertained and inspired. Whether it’s grabbing a special treat at a local bakery, picking up supplies for a new hobby, or enjoying a family meal at one of our neighborhood gems, Emery Village has everything you need to make the week off special for the little ones.

Thank you to everyone who has helped make the start of 2026 so successful. I look forward to working together to make Emery Village even stronger and more connected this spring.

Warm regards,

Sandra Farina
