For many young players in Emery, soccer action begins close to home — on the fields at the Carmine Stefano Community Centre.
West Toronto United FC officially opened registration for its 2026 outdoor summer season.
The West Toronto United program has been part of the neighbourhood for many years and continues to provide a welcoming environment where players of all skill levels can learn the game and build confidence.
Soccer remains one of the most affordable sports for families. As a nonprofit community club, West Toronto United works hard to keep registration costs reasonable. Most of the basic equipment — including the team jersey and uniform — is included with registration, meaning parents typically only need to provide soccer shoes and shin guards.
Programs are designed to introduce younger children to the game while also giving older players the opportunity to improve their skills and enjoy friendly competition with teammates.
After the challenges many community programs faced during the pandemic, leagues like West Toronto United are excited to see kids returning to the fields and rediscovering the fun of organized sport. With Toronto hosting World Cup matches this year, many young players may even start dreaming a little bigger about the sport they love.
Registration for the 2026 outdoor season opened February 17 and runs until May 1, with early bird pricing available until March 31.
For families in Emery and surrounding neighbourhoods, it’s a great opportunity to get kids active, meet new friends, and become part of a long-standing community tradition.
