Summer is a wonderful time to enjoy the outdoors with our pets, but warm temperatures can also create hidden dangers.
Never leave a pet unattended inside a vehicle, even for a few minutes. Temperatures inside a parked car can rise rapidly and become life-threatening.
When walking dogs, try to schedule outings during the early morning or evening when temperatures are cooler. Hot pavement can burn sensitive paw pads and cause discomfort or injury.
Make sure pets always have access to fresh water and a shaded area where they can escape the heat. Watch for signs of overheating, including excessive panting, lethargy, drooling or difficulty breathing
With a little extra care, pets can safely enjoy everything summer has to offer right alongside their families.
