Councillor’s Corner - February 2026

Councillor’s Corner

Dear Resident,

City Planners are hosting a public meeting to discuss the development application at 3100 Weston Road, the site of Carmine Stefano Community Centre, the Marian Shrine of Gratitude, the Rivermede house and the former St. Basil-The-Great College School.

The current proposal looks to change part of the site, in front of the historic Rivermede house, with three blocks of 4-storey stacked townhouses, for a total of 125 units.

I encourage you to come out, hear more details, and share your views at the meeting hosted by City Planners.

Meeting details:

Thursday, February 26th

6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Carmine Stefano Community Centre

3100 Weston Rd.

Developments have long-term impacts on our neighbourhood, from traffic and infrastructure to access to services and the overall character of our community. That is why it is so important for residents to come out, ask questions, and make their voices heard.

Changes to provincial planning legislation has shifted the balance of the development process to favour developers and silenced communities, pushing decisions through without adequate input from the people most affected.

I believe development should not happen without community consultation. This meeting is an opportunity to speak up. Showing up sends a broader message to this and future governments that communities have a voice over their neighbourhood, and that voice must be respected and incorporated into the planning/development process.

I strongly encourage residents to attend this meeting and share their perspectives. If you are unable to attend, written comments can be submitted to City Planning, and my office is always available to help share your concerns.
