If you’ve travelled along Finch Avenue West over the past several years, you’ve seen the transformation unfold in real time. Construction crews, shifting lanes, concrete barriers, and a lot of patience were all part of the process as the Finch West LRT slowly took shape.
For motorists and commuters, the project meant detours and delays. But for many of the businesses along the corridor, it also meant perseverance. Through years of construction, these businesses continued to serve customers and support the community.
Now that the trains are beginning to roll through the neighbourhood, the Emery Village Voice is launching a new monthly feature called All Aboard, Emery!
While many of the stops in this series will highlight businesses within the Emery Village area, we thought it was important to begin with an organization that plays a vital role in the safety and well-being of our community. Although it sits just north of Finch Avenue West and technically outside the Emery Village boundaries, 31 Division of the Toronto Police Service serves our neighbourhood every day and helps keep our community safe.
For that reason, we are proud to recognize 31 Division as the first stop in our All Aboard, Emery! series.
In the article that follows, we take a closer look at the work being done at 31 Division and highlight the upcoming 31 Division Open House, taking place Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the station on Norfinch Drive.
Next month, our journey continues as All Aboard, Emery! steps off near Signet Drive and Arrow Road, where we’ll begin exploring businesses located within the Emery Village area along the LRT corridor.
So hop aboard as we begin a new journey through the community.
