March break close to home: Keeping busy in our community

By Shannon Delmarco

March Break is coming fast — and for busy parents, the big question always seems to land the same way: “What are we doing with the kids all week?”

If you’re staying local this year, the good news is you don’t have to look far. The Carmine Stefano Community Centre continues to be one of the main March Break hubs in our area, offering full-day CampTO programs designed for school-aged children.

A typical camp day is built around structured program blocks, starting with multi-sport gym activities. Kids rotate through staff-led floor hockey, basketball drills, indoor soccer, relay races and cooperative team games.

Groups also spend time in creative program rooms working on hands-on projects such as canvas painting, bracelet making, clay art and themed craft builds.

Many camp families also pair their week with skating, and we’re lucky to have great local options nearby. Gord & Irene Risk Arena and Habitant Arena both offer family leisure skates and public skating sessions throughout the holiday week.
