March Break isn’t just for the kids.
For adults staying local — whether you’ve booked a few days off or simply find your schedule a little quieter — it can also be a great time to recharge and enjoy what’s available right here in the community.
Community centres like Carmine Stefano continue running adult programming throughout the holiday week. Fitness classes such as yoga, stretching, cardio conditioning and low-impact workouts remain available, along with access to walking tracks and weight rooms for those looking to stay active indoors.
Swimming is another easy option. Lane swims and recreational swims run during daytime hours, offering a quieter, more relaxed environment while youth camps are in session. It’s a great way to stay moving without the evening crowds.
And of course, skating isn’t just for families.
Public leisure skates at Gord & Irene Risk Arena and Habitant Arena welcome adult skaters of all levels. Midday sessions, in particular, tend to be less busy — making them ideal for casual skating, beginners, or anyone simply looking to enjoy some time on the ice.
If March decides to tease us with a mild afternoon or two, the week also offers a nice excuse to slow the pace — meet a friend for coffee, enjoy a lunch along Weston Road, or take a neighbourhood walk and soak in that first hint of spring.
You don’t need travel plans to make the most of March Break. Sometimes staying active, social and local is exactly the reset adults need.
